Mint is for mouthwash. Gun lube should smell like bracken fern! One could eat that too, but only in moderation...
It's not made for being ate... However, it sure smells good. I've seen Larry Vickers put a chunk of it on a chip and eat it at a firearms class. He goes "not only does it work and smell good, but it's non toxic and plant based to" and proceeded to chow down lol.

Stuff works great for anything needing grease. Guns, reels, bows, tools, etc.

Attracts less dirt/sand than the conventional stuff, apparently.

Easier to clean to... I put about 500 rounds of M855 through my AR today and after, all it needed was a quick wipe down and relube. The dust/powder/residue all gets trapped on the outside and doesn't come in contact with the metal itself. It acts as a barrier making clean up a breeze. You'd think it would cause malfunctions having all that gunk around but it doesn't. Literally just wipe the gunk/old lube off and reapply. No deep scrubbing/heavy solvents needed. Apparently Fireclean is even better. Froglube is expensive but works great and lasts long. I've had one smallish tub of it for about 2 years.

For those that don't want to invest in a "kit", I might recommend a bottle of ReelX lubricant, a round tub of Cal's Reel Grease, and a box of Q-tips.

Lastly, if you're going to go to the effort of taking your reels apart to clean and re-lube/grease them, invest in some carbon fiber drag washers if you're reel didn't come with them.

You can get all of this stuff at smoothdrag.com I've recommended this site before and will again. One of the good guys out there.

All of my reels have carbontex drag washers, Cal's grease and are hit with ReelX annually. They run smooth like butter year in and year out....until a part breaks and completely destroys the reel.

I was gonna clean all my Calcutta's but couldn't figure out to even take them apart let alone put them back together. So just squirted some oil in where I could find a place and now hoping for a bite this coming season to see if they work.

My saltwater-used Calcutta have been destroyed. I rank them as one of the most overpriced reels around. They are butter when new but once they go, they are gone. They anodize some of the key parts and THEN finish them so sometimes a whole face is completely exposed to salt that starts to pit them out.

I agree with Parker than ReelX and Cal's are both awesome shtuff!

Small wood poker sticks are another crucial piece of a kit.
