What type of boat??? I am pretty sure the guys over at Custom Weld in Lewiston could at least point you in the right direction. They sell that type of stuff for their jet boats, should work on anything.

If you live in Duvall, why not "Fish On", made in Seattle, or at least the home office was there. If not there, Cabela's or Bass Pro have a good selection. Just looking at Cabela's Master Catalog Spring 2000, Edition II.....They have 4 pages of rod holders..Pages 69-71.....I didn't realize that they have all the "new stuff" they have. I'm a old "downeaster and fishon user"..thanks for asking that question..

Have a good Day!!!!

Drifter,

I have heard a few horror stories about Fish-on holders, that they are friction based and that a couple of fishermen I know had their rodholders wear-out, loose their friction or whatever you want to call it. One lost his rod and the other just lost a fish. Scotty and Roberts rodholders have teeth (gears) on the part that adjusts the angle the rod is at so they lock in. Maybe I'm just being a little paranoid, it seemed to make sense at the time (LOL) I couldn't find any available til today. Just out of curiosity, have you ever had any problems like that with your rodholders? Thanks for the response gentlemen. Take care.

Have 4 of the Fish On rod holders, started using with my driftboat in 85, still have the orginal 4, never broken one, no major problems. A screwdriver will tighten the adjusting "screw", that does get loose. Never lost a rod, have lost fish....tough to get it out, sometimes, with a really big king on or a big "dog". Live in Grays Harbor, fish all the rivers here, trolling, pulling plugs, and anchored with K16 QuikFish. I'd buy them again but then I haven't tried the others.
Old Redmond boy here, junior high in the middle 50's, used to pick strawberries in Duvall and Carnation. One of my 1st girl friends was from Fall City. 1st Steelhead ever, caught at mouth of Tolt, summer run, on a fly, size 14.......fishing for searun cutthroat.....summertime 1965.......god that seems like 100 years ago....Best of luck in your purchase...

I personally love Fish-on rod holders. The only thing I dont like about them is that they are long so I will modify them a bit. From memory I think a stock Fish On is about 5inches long from the reel seat to the front of the holder. I will measure from the tip about 3.5 to 4 inches back and make a mark on the top of the rod holder. on the bottom I will measure and inch shorter than the top from. I then take the hacksaw and make a diagonal cut. The end result is a rod holder that is short enough I can grab the Cork above the reel when I need to set the hook. Cutting it gives you a little more room for side to side error when you pull the rod out. It allowing you to get the rod out faster. The rod stays put just as well in the shortened version as the long version.
