Help!
Got this Winston BL5 9' grafite rod that two of the pieces won't come apart been that way for two weeks. Come home from work and hope that it's come apart on it's own. Tried ice and heat but no luck. Any ideas?

1, bring it to the shop where you purchased it and ask for help

2, Send it to Winston

Don't hold me to this but a friend had that prob and he let a bit of WD40 run into the ferrule then held an electric jigsaw, w/o a blade of course, against the ferrule for high frequency vibration while he and a helper slowly pulled it apart.

Howdy,
My friend Bryan showed me how to un-stick a 2-piece by wrapping a substantial amount of electrical tape on either side. This increases the tork you can apply while pulling and twisting the sections apart. Pliers can be used if all else fails, just be sure not to squeeze so much as to crush the rod through the tape wrapping. A little nose oil should keep it from sticking again.

Thanks for the advise, if I get the courage up I'll try some of the ideas.
LoomisMan, your right, I swear that's why that rod don't want to come apart. It just wants to go Steelheading!

Taught to me by me pappy. To break down a fly rod or other 2 piece, place the rod behind your knees parallel to the ground and the line created by your shoulders. Grab each half of the rod with a hand tight to the side of your knees. Now just apply outward pressure w/ the knees till it comes apart. This technique maintains linear pressure on the rod and allows you to focus all hand strength on gripping. It has worked for me on several very stuck rods and has prevented me from EVER breaking a rod during breakdown. Your legs and hips are the most powerful muscles in your body and much more controllable.

Landtuna,

If that Winston would have caught more fish this year, it would be loosened up. My advice is leave it together and let's hit the Sky soon after it opens.

Hey SINKTIP,
Thought you took up trout fishing or some other gentle sport like that.
Just up in Naknek for 3 days of work, stays light till 1 or two AM so fishing is a must. 31" rainbow about 12lbs. Oh by the way did you put crazy glue on that section of rod that won't come apart on the last day of the Steelhead season because I hooked so many fish that day? June is not far away!
