Due to the generosity of both Jim Bucket Heins and Phil Stephens and the SRC 2014 crew for talking Phil into donating the trip for helping a fellow sportsman-friend, I found myself in the Mystical Legends sled last Tuesday on the Cowlitz along with another legend that is the STAM. We poked around for a few hours looking for one of them tasty springers, but there was no love or signs for that matter. Phil ran us up upstream to
the Jungle Baby, where we joined a few other fishermen in search of some fat brat steel.
My last steelhead excursion was hucking spoons on the Thompson, so needless to say I witnessed first hand the patience of a world-class fishing guide re-tying my side-drifting gear after i tagged me a couple of squirrels right of the bat. I would have thrown myself over the side, but Phil was patient with me.
Finally got settled down and landed a nice one, and then we proceeded to punch 3 more in the face to call it a day. Saw a couple of nice 18-lbers that got punched to, one of the in Capt. Robbo's vessel.
I highly recommend any of you who want a great day on the water to book a trip with Phil........he is first class all the way. I love fishing with fishy guides, you know the kind. Phil is a fishy guide! Look forward to another trip with him soon. And any day fishing with Steve is a good day for sure, thanks guys!
