So I Finally had a chance to get out to the coast last weekened and pry around for a fish. River blew out Friday night, so we did a scouting trip in search of steelhead and Sasquatch Saturday, waiting for the river to drop back in Sunday.
15 minutes into our float I latched into a fish. At first I called it out at 7-9 pounds. You know, it dogged a bit, couldnt really see it, but generally didnt put up to much of a bitch fest. Got it close, and the fish Saw Ripleys ugly mug with net in hand, and ripped off 40 yards in 5 seconds. Nope, it isnt a 9 pounder!
Played it back in and this is the result:
A solid class of 2015 fish to be proud of for a guy who hasn't had too much steelhead fishing time this year.
While on our trip we tested the new RVRFSHR worms on all drift fishing rigs. The new pattern is roughly 5-6 inches, and has a the perfect salt/fresh rubber concoction that fishes really well. White painted/dipped tails which match well with the dibblers. I only ripped one worm the entire day of drift fishing, which is a first for me. The worms you don't break off, which occasionally get scrunched, keep fishing strong through the scrunching.
a quick closeup, and off it swam:
So I know some of you have been fishing, lets see your class of 2015 fish!
