The trend is casting bobbers and jigs. I don't fish from boats, so I can't help with that. I see alot of fish hooked this way, and some are use'n sandshrimp. I tried berkly power grubs(4" green& white) with scent(shrimp oil) last tuesday I didn't take anything home. First time use'n that and the last. I skipped out of work to hit retier>? fished for two hours than the plant manager called he in to work. @#$%^&..... I'd try some spoons. Let them drift the current? A guy at work has been doing good. He won't tell me his secret. In time I'll work it out of him.

Check the regs on the upper sky - if memory serves it is closed to fishing for "Game fish" from boats starting 8/1.

The closure from fishing from a boat that you are referring to only affects the "Reiter" area. This closure is for protecting the bank anglers at Reiter from having boats move in on them. You will notice in the regs it states the time closure at 8:01 am Aug 1st to Mar 31st,the exact same time Reiter is open.

Fisherman, sounds like your doing everthing right. Only advice would be lose the corky on the bait diver and drift fish with small dark colors Black,Blue and purple yarn with long lite ledders. Question are you banging the bottom much on that upper drift. Thanks and good luck.

I have been tossing small baits on long leaders. We have taken fish every trip down from the high bridge.

The water is low and clear and the fish are spooky. Try a longer leader with a small black or some other dull color corkie with a small piece of prawn for scent only. better if you make the prawn a little strip that wiggles. The most important thing though is to NOT bang the bottom. Use a very small weight which will move fast through the drift and not let them have a good look at it. They seem to be more apt to hit something they only have a split second to react on. Keep the drag loose too because they can be out of the water and running as fast as you feel them.

i need some info also. I want to float the high bridge downbut have never been on it. I understand that there is a couple of tricky spots. I need to know if I should go blind or have someone thats been down before take me first?
I'm not a rookie at rowing but things can happen fast if you're not set up right. I've been on the lower sky, snoq. nooch, lewis, cow. and the kalama. with no troubl.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ron Bob, you'll do just fine. The fastest water is right after you put in and go under the railroad bridge. Just ride the "v" cuz there are no rocks and try to stay slightly right. Fish the next pool, it's a beauty. After this pool stay river left cuz river right is a boulder garden, kinda like the Soleduck. After that its basically a breeze, just use common sense. Might get shallow in a few spots but no danger. There used to be a problem log jam but it blew out earlier this year and is no longer a concern. Good luck.

Listen to the Beezer. I went solo on his instructions yesterday. I have a 14' woody and took on about 5 gallons in the first rapid, but it was basic water. Stay left out of the first eddy, you're home free. Banged bottom in a few tailouts below. Too bad the only fish I saw were poached Chinook in the first hole. To the guy in the new 12' Lavro poaching Kings.......F*&%U.
Tight Lines, have a great drift.

Swami, it was the hole just after the first rapid. I cannot be sure he kept one, but he commented that the hole was full of Chinook and he had "barbecue fare". He made several passes through the hole while in site. I mean, even the Cracker knows what water holds Salmon, versus what water holds legally kept Steel. Coho suggested the same today about the cell phone. I will program the Poaching hotline on me cell and bring it from now on. You know, this sport is a nice passtime for me, regardless of whether or not I catch fish. It just burns me up when I see blatant disregard for the law, and that seems to happen every time I go fishing lately.

I figure, if a guy's got no respect for a very simple law, and one that should be common sense in today's ESA wary landscape, does he have any respect for human life? Especially mine? I will not chance getting shot on the river by one of these folks.

I didn't mean to get your self into trouble," say the fish are endangered." You'll see all kinds of people doing the wrong thing, just say something to them for the sport you love. I really can't see somebody shooting you.
