Who's got one & what bullets you running for predator hunting?

Sold my HB .243 Winchester awhile back, thinking of one of these in a bolt gun or a fast twist .223.

I've got a .22-250. It's a Remington 700. It once was a .308, now it's a .22-250.

Kind of a funky home made in the garage type of thing. Shilen select match stainless steel barrel, #3 contour, 26" long. Planted into a Brown Precision kevlar stock with a Leupold 4.5 x 14 Vari-X III resting on top of some crudely crafted home made scope rings.

I shot Noslers in 50 and 55 grain weights for years and years. Now I just stick with 55 grain Hornady V-Max bullets just because they work so well and are deadly accurate.

My advise, for what it is worth, if you feel you must have a .223, save it for ground squirrels and prairie dogs. Use the .22-250 for large marmots and coyotes.

As in, towel around head coyotes?

BB is too modest.
That rig is probably a "one ragged holer".

For the towels, hard to beat a .50...

I run the 55 gr vmax in mine also. I get better accuracy with the sierra 60 gr hp, but dont mind giving up a little accuracy to get the effect im looking for on rodents. I think the 55 vmax is tough on fir.
I too would use the 223 on sm vermin, and if dogs r the target the 22-250 is a fine choise. My 2 are both rem m700, and sub " guns

This, in either the vanilla or the Improved version. Hard to top the efficiency. Half the powder of a '250 for a minuscule 15% or so reduction in mv for a given bullet. You'd likely pop more primers accordingly and smile each time. 62X's and slick 75's hit hard in adjacent ZIP Codes. You thinking easy to tote or a chunk?

Have a Rock River 20" in my hands right now. 1 in 8 twist stainless bull barrel. Nice crisp single stage trigger. Just mounted a 6-24 ×50mm on the rail.

Loaner from a good shooting buddy, all mine for a couple weeks.

Time for me to learn some AR, never really looked into one before. Always been a bolt guy.

The AR is an amazing piece of engineering.
I was always a bolt guy until recently when I scratch-built my first AR.
Rock River uses Wilson Arms barrels with the .223 Wylde chamber.
They are routinely very accurate.

This one has I believe the Wilson air gauged barrel.

Not a lightweight with scope / rings & 10 rounds in the magazine it's 10 lbs even.

Lol, too late now.

If this barrel is a Wison in .223 Wylde would it be marked as same?

If this was purchased as a complete rifle from Rock River it should be marked .223 Wylde.
It will not be marked Wilson Arms.
There will also be a barrel code stamped on the barrel.
You can Google the barrel code for more info.
You will probably have to remove the handguard to see some of these marks.

Note:
Wilson Arms, a barrel maker, not to be confused with Wilson Combat, a gun maker.

Took the AR down, removed the gas block/tube assembly & free floating hand guard

Found no barrel code on this one. Side of the action is marked Rock River Arms Cal. 5.56mm

"side of the action"....Do you mean lower receiver ?

If so, you must have an early RRA.
Most all the new stuff says "cal-multi" because they are being built into so many different calibers these days.
It is so easy to change barrels out on these things, you tend to ignore receiver markings.

More info on RRA barrel markings...

There is a clarification on their Wylde chambers.
Mine is a 16" HBAR SS mid-gas Wylde.
I think the mark is 215.

Example
