Is there still the need to get a permit from Fort Lewis to access the launch up there and the Mortar Range launch. It's been years since I've been up there and the last time I got a ticket along with about twenty other trucks. If a permit is still require where and when might one get one.

I don't know about the permit, but the last time I was down there a tank was cruising the other side of the river and firing rounds that about left our ears bleeding...so ear plugs might be a worthwhile item to keep in your vest.

Yes you still need a permit to access the Ft. Lewis launches. To get one you go to the Range Control office. They are open Monday - Friday 8:00 to 5:00 but the I was told that the duty officer can issue after hours.

They are located in Bldg. 4074. Come in the Dupont gate, turn right on Kaufman Ave (2nd right) and go down about 2 blocks they are on the right hand side. There is a sign on the bldg. You will need your D/L, registration and proof of insurance. Ph 253-967-6371.
