.... or should I say a small one?

One fish bag.... retention slot limit of 37" or less.

Basically 25# and over is off limits to the guided angler.

Don'cha just love the commercially-dominated IPHC.

Wow. That's gonna be an issue for Robbo and others up there. Any issues or restrictions handed down to people fishing skate lines?

Nothing is written in stone yet! I think there's a good chance this gets over-turned this year and probably goes into effect next year, similar to 2007 when they imposed the 1 halibut limit. At least thats my hope.

Commercial guys didn't come out of this unscathed either, they took a hit!

Does this effect the Cook Inlet area? If so I will be
canceling my group that is booked there this summer.

To far and to expensive for me to be able to harvest just 1 Halibut.

I'm not greedy but I just go for the Halibut and give away
all the Kings I get.

Cook inlet isn't in SE your ok, for now, once they get done screwing everyone in SE, they'll probably move north!

I agree. This is going to shut down the halibut charters in SE. Nobody is going to pay $200+/person for the chance to land a 25lb halibut. The commercial folks got hit too, but nothing like what the chartered recreational anglers received.

The writing is on the wall. Once SE goes, SC will be next. The folks in Homer gotta be nervous. There might be alot of empty store fronts on The Spit in a few years.....

I have a charter boat in Homer. We're nervous, but still OK for now. What bugs me most is that guys fishing with rod and reel are being cut back, while the commercials dump 14 million pounds a year of dead halibut as "bycatch."

Watch this video taken onboard one of the trawlers. It'll make any sportsman sick. The most poignant scenes are in the last 30 seconds or so.

If that's not enough, imagine them doing that to the 50,000 king salmon they killed this fall in the Gulf.

Signed sealed delivered.... read 'em and weep.

In other actions, the commission imposed a 37-inch size limit on the sport charter sector in Southeast, which has exceeded its catch limit every year since 2004. Commissioners said the size limit may be lifted when catch shares go into effect next year.

Very sickening video... Tough to believe that we still do that kinda crap to our fisheries... Not going to be hard to look back and see where we fukked up when we look back in a few years when we have no fish left...

If you were as smart as you seem to think you are you would know this is not "signed sealed delivered" until the Sec of Commerce approves it, which he has not done!

Catch Shares were designed by the Environmental Defense Fund to kill fishing. NOAA's Jane Lubchenko was from PEWS first and EDS second. They are stacking the deck against fishermen. This is after the IPHC cut.

From what I was told that the commission in the gulf has put three EDFs on their board. Getting close to having the voting majority.

IFQs in Alaska were supposed to stop the downward spiral. Guess what?
