There is a small lagoon in Nicaragua stuffed with Tarpon from 40 to 200 pounds. They get fished on maybe 25 days a year. They bite. That's why I try to get back there every year.

My heart is racing and I was totally caught up in the action.

Incredible; giant hard-fighting fish, sun...

Someday.

Even the baby tarpon (10-30#) rip line faster than I can imagine, and have the line burn scars from last year. The power of adult tarpon is hard for me to fathom.

I have a friend that has fished the HILL TIDE and I need to go with him. He has landed them up to 180lbs and has had ones just as big
eaten by Hammerhead sharks while tring to get them in!! It doesn't matter to me if I get one on a Bug rod or bait. That is on my list also!

I'm not sure how those fish are still on the line after the initial run...I guess you're lucky if they still are.

Those dudes remind me of steelhead anglers, just at the wrong corner of the country.

Fish on...

Todd

Great video. I've been fascinated with tarpon ever since I saw the 7-foot beast on the wall at my grandparents' house in N. Carolina as a young lad. My grandfather died when I was 5, so I never got to hear the story of how he caught it, but I bet it was a good one.

Someday....

Cool!

My moment was at 1:35 when the fish left an underwater roostertail of mud as it ran at and then by the boat while the angler is dropping the F-bomb. Crazy.

I gotta give the elitist bug chucking crowd credit - they do make killer internet videos. Sucks every bug chucker (and non chucker) in hand over fist.

People that call tarpon poon are probably the same ones that call sturgeon gators and think they spit the hook!
