I was wondering if someone could answer a question. Historically, when does the Bogachiel winter run get going strong. I have been going out several times a year for the last couple years but usually not until mid Dec. I have heard many times that Thanksgiving is a good time to start but realize that each year can be different. Thanks in advance.

Yer late if you start in mid-December wink

This week is about the right time, and the first week of December will be the peak, and it'll be mostly over by Christmas.

Fish on...

Heard at our NOP PSA meeting tonight that the tribal net fishery picked up a goodly number of steelhead over the past few days. A lot of fish in the 9 lb + size range. Not many coho or Chinook in the nets

First big water after mid-Nov usually pushes a good plug of them up the river. Have enjoyed a few productive Thanksgiving weekends out that way with a mix of salmon and steelhead to be thankful for.

I promised the Doc I wouldn't fish for 3 months post Tx, so that would be Dec 20. I was planning to wait until after the 1st to miss the huge plug of fisherman Xmas week. I hope there will be one or two left for me.

I am once again a Drift boat whore, as the Driftabago has gone to Montana. It jsut got too big for me to handle. If you have an open seat , please let me know... I could probably do some of the rowing .

"That's not fighting like a steelhead" should have read "That's not fighting like a 4 pound Bogachiel hatchery steelhead" wink

Fish on...

They are starting to show up. I only fished the Sol Duc thursday looking for silvers and managed 1 infront of the hatchery. Was gonna hit the Bogey friday/saturday but got the dreaded ball-n-chain phone call and to head back early. Anyways i talked to a few guys who had some success on the Calawah near the pens and they hooked a couple steelhead between them. They also said alteast a dozen cars were parked at the Bogey hatchery so the crowds are starting to build up. I would have hit the Bogey thursday but the gate to Tall Timbers was closed and its a loooong hike.
