Took the wife down the local crik today. It was to be a plug mission but I decided to have her bobber dog some eggs in between plug runs. She ended up hooking one all by herself on some bobber dogged eggs which was cool. It ended up being the smallest wild steelhead I've ever seen but still awesome that she hooked it on her own. The water was killer today.  A warm wife is a happy wife:  Watching the seductive dance of the plugs:  The wife's cute little wild fish:  All in all, a good day.

We also caught one about the same size on a local semi trib this weekend, That fish will go back out and most likely not return again for 3-4 plus years. The Bio that did the samples years ago on the 30+ hatchery fish we caught, said it came back it's first year as a Jack and went back out, without spawning, and didn't return for 4 years, and then returned on consecutive years. He told use these are the really big fish you catch, first year as a jack the out for 4 plus years before they venture back, common steelhead jack behavior, I guess that's why we don't see many jacks.... So look for him in a few years. Nice day spent with the wife....

That water does look as awesome as it gets! nice report...wish I had been on that crick today, but Blackmouth/Seal fishing was fun!

Went Blackmouth fishing on Possession today with SPUD on the Fishtale II. We had 4-5 on, bonked two, lost a big one, hooked a halibut, and of course close encounters with a seal or two.
Seal # 2 Story.... The day ended with a goat rodeo-esq final five minutes including a broken downrigger cable.. crossed lines, fish on? maybe... then me fighting a belly hooked fat bastard. We wanted the flasher and super top secret experimental Silver Horde terminal tackle at the end of the line back.. so as we backed down on the seal into 3 foot wind waves (I thought I was safe wearing jeans on the Fishtale..not) He sounded and surfaced three times as we circled trying to give our man on the paintball turret a clean shot. Fight ended with a snapped mainline, lost gear, and a wet Sky-Guy.

tail area is dead giveaway, look at the spotting that dissapears nearing the anal fin, Steelhead tail sections dont look like that...
it a damn fine fish Drew, but its not a Steelhead...
