Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is currently accepting comments on selecting "Wild Steelhead Gene Banks" in three Puget Sound Regions: (1) North Cascades, (2) Central/South Puget Sound, and (3) Hood Canal and Strait of Juan de Fuca. WDFW's Gene Bank determination is part of an ongoing process by the agency to reduce the impacts of their steelhead hatchery programs on select wild steelhead populations across the state. Research shows that hatchery fish negatively impact wild populations and compromise efforts to recover them. WDFW is currently accepting comments on your preferred Gene Bank Rivers for each region through August 13, 2015.

If you care about wild steelhead, please send your comments today--vote for Puget Sound Wild Steelhead Gene Banks. Comments must be received no later than 5p.m. Pacific time on August 13, 2015.

this shouldn't affect the puyallup or carbon, you should be fine...

if you knew anything about either of those systems you would know that at one point the Puyallup River was number 2 in the state for wild winter Steelhead...
