The spring-like weather has been a blessing for anglers hitting the open saltwater areas of Puget Sound with decent fishing in the northern portions.

"We headed to Midchannel Bank, and have been getting keeper-sized fish [chinook over 22 inches long] on every trip up there," said Pete Sergeef, a state Fish and Wildlife checker who fished Tuesday on the state's test fishery boat.

"We finished off the day drift mooching at Point No Point and got a couple fish there, and it was pretty decent Sunday, but seals have been a problem," Sergeef said. "Possession Bar is dead, and it is usually a good place to fish in the winter."
