Does anyone have any suggestions for a good versatile salmon/steelhead net to use from a boat in the Columbia and other medium to large-sized rivers? Are long-handled nets better? Looking to buy a boat soon and want to get a few basic things to go with it first, a good net being one. Thanks!

Go big or go home!

I've always had good luck with Frabill's.

Beckman, Ranger, Frabill...big basket, knotless, long handle.

Good luck!

Fish on...

What Todd and Broodbuster said....

You might also think about a second net available for those times when you have a double/triple header being worked...

+1 Good quality, and they are a good bang for your buck...

I'm looking for a new net right now too. I think I've settled on the Frabil rubber coated knotless CNR net. Not the absolute biggest hoop or longest handle but I think it will do the trick for full time use.

NAH.... just go for the double bagger! Done it with both chinook and coho.

Love my Beckman. The long handle seems to calm down those boat shy fish.

I've done the double bagger. Cut into my fishing time, though. Usually have the second net on board now.
