A few of us are headed off to Nicaragua for tarpon, snook, King mackerel and Spanish mackerel in March. That brings up the opportunity to buy more tackle. Today was a great day at my house. My new three piece Lami XTC tarpon rod arrived today and along with it a shiny XMG 92 M-C steelhead rod.

I loaded up my Avet MX, that Hankster sold me, with 30 lb mono and attached it to the tarpon rod. I then loaded my, never before used, Toro Revo 50 high speed with 14 lb mono and mounted it on to the XMG. Both rigs are sitting in the kitchen corner where I can admire them and the wife can roll her eyes at them. Life is good.

I hear ya Dave! It is impossible for me to tag along with someone to a tackle store and not spend money on stuff I probably could get by without......you had a rod for tarpon last year right? laugh
Why did you HAVE to have another one? rofl

I have two great pardners with saltwater boats, and I usually buy tackle and leave it behind for next time.....after a couple of years their boats are full of my little plastic tackle boxes. rofl

Your wife sounds like she knows the drill! I keep rods in 3 or 4 places around my hovel so the wife can't figure out how many new ones get added wink

By chance if you didn't catch the advice on this rebuild here for your 50, I'd highly recommend it! thumbs

Get the 20mm carbon fiber washer and some Cal's from smoothdrag and replace that POS stock washer. Give the dry washers a wet-down with the Cal's.

Hell, get the washer and I'll do it for ya!

Tarpon, beware! thumbs

Still shaking my heading wondering why ABU would do that.......

Can anyone help out DV here - is the teflon washer on the 60 winch the same 20mm washer used on the various other Revos?

Direct-Drive - can you confirm?

I'll have you just stop by when the parts come in, DV! Won't take me very long.

Have Dave look at the parts sheets from each reel model and see if they are the same part # for the washers

In case you are wondering the drags for the 50 and 60 are the same. I just ordered three sats from Smooth Drag. Very easy folks to deal with.
