I'm thinking of booking a halibut or ling charter for the first time this spring? Anyone know, in general, if the halibut charters are likely booked already?

Anyone have recommendations for specific charters? Locations? Westport? Neah Bay? Or somewhere in the sound?

Thanks.

Neah is good but a Very short season this year. I like Westport as the spot not only gives up Buts and Lings but also nice Black Cod. Lots of the better charters aT Westport still have room.

You can't go wrong with Jambo's Sportfishing out of Neah. Quite a few people on here will concur...Mike is damn good!

I am sure you will get a variety of names here as everyone has their favorite and there are a lot of good ones to choose from ... that said, if you go out of Westport ..... I would highly recommend the Freedom and Capt. Chuck Custer ... I have gone out with him for several years and EVERY trip is outstanding!!

The Freedom is with Westport Charters.

Jambo at Neah Bay or Randy Lato at La Push. Whichever you choose, your fish bag will be full!

Another fan of Jambos. Big comfortable "6 pack" that doesn't have the cattle boat feel. Top of the line equipment that is maticulously maintained.

Because of Halibut allocation, getting a trip on any of the mentioned reputable charter boats during the short window of opportunity is difficult. Specific boats/operators keep waiting lists just incase they get cancelations. Something to consider, especially if you take the advise here and seek a trip with Jambos, is to consider a deepwater Lingcod trip. They certainly average on the healthy side size-wise, and the trip finishes up with some nearshore light tackle bottomfishing to make a full day out of it. You'll end up with an ample supply of fish'n'chips for a days fishing for sure.

Detailed >LINK< for deepwater Lingcod trips.

Some LC's from Jambo's C/V Malia Kai last year.
