Looking at purchasing a 1988 25' Sailfish Anything I should know about before purchasing the boat. It's a 1988 with 2007 twin 200 evenrudes with 100 hours. I have seen all different price ranges from $8000 to $42,000 for the same boat. I'm assuming the big difference is the motors. Just asking other Pisc guys if there might be some info so I dont mind block when taking the boat out. At the price I'm negotiating if the motors go to poop I could get newer ones. But my concern is the hull am I making a mistake getting something this old. Thanks everyone.

That would be before the SeaV2 hull change - Give it some rough water during the sea trial to see how it rides. I agree with Chuck - Transom and floors should be carefully checked out. That boat should scoot with the twin 200's. With only 100 hours I wouldn't worry too much about the motors, but you could have them checked on the computer to see what rpm those hours were, how how it ran, whether there are any engine problems, etc. (I'm assuming that has the same internal computer system that my 2009 e-tec has).

Sounds like a good boat if it has been taken care of.

One more thing - You probably can't put 4 strokes on that hull because the transom wasn't desinged for the extra weight of 4 strokes and the scuppers also might be under the water with al that additional weight back there. Scuppers on a grady are close to the water line. So if you are thinking about changing out the motors, be thinking 2 stroke. I think you will like the motors you have though, so it may not be an issue.

I volunteered as a Mason County, reserve deputy sheriff for about four years. We had a 22' Grady, Enforcer Too, after the older Glastron.

2cents The thing I would look for is the fuel tank for leakage if the new E-10 fuel was used.

Your right about being concerned with the hull. I would hire a surveyor. It would probably cost a couple of hundred bucks. Good luck.
