Last weekend I purchased a trip to fish Willapa for kings for next summer. I know run timing is subjective but can anyone point me in the right direction for nailing down some dates based on historical timing? I've never fished down there before and am looking forward to it, just need to throw a few general dates on the vacation calendar.

Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

Thanks fellas. I'll chime in as we get closer. It's always fun to fish unfamilar waters for the first time so I'm excited about it.

Wait until the "gill net season has been set".....then pick a time after you have studied the schedule.....might be better to wait till NOF game has been played......

DrifterWA, that's a sweet boat.

Laborday weekend is the traditional peak.

What drifter says. You don't want to fish for about 5-7 days at least after they've gillnetted. After what's gone on the past couple years, you can't be sure till after NOF, and then you really can't be sure even then. They sprung several inpromtu openers on us in 2010 after NOF was said and done.
