While it would be nice to fish, the rain timing is perfect. The net schedule was amended on the 7th. They will net from noon tomorrow until next Saturday. We need mud and whole trees.

Determined to finally whittle down that GINORMOUS stack of fishing crap strewn on my dining table since before Buoy 10. Got a pretty good start today but had to abandon the project to go chase brainless bivalves in the pouring rain wind and hail.

It started fast and furious, but suddenly it was as if someone flipped the light switch off. Tough digging, but Chief Lantern Master LMWS toughed it out with the rest of us to finally limit 5 diggers over the next hour and a half. I think we spent an hour on the last 6-8 clams!

Got back home late to fix a feast of warm brie, crackers, beer, iced whisky, premium wine, fresh fried razors, grilled ornamental-marinated coho, broiled 'spagarus and crusty rosemary bread. Thoroughly enjoyed by a close circle of friends and family.

Bring on the rain. It's been one helluva season. Got bills to pay, photos to sort/edit, and the rest of that fishin' crap to organize.

I agree. I need to spend about 6 hrs getting leaves off my lawn. Although I am about to leave my house for one more quick spinner session.

Monday morning..........the rain continues....

Friday and Saturday......days that many of us have but some more than others.

Friday.....spoonin.....had lot's of fun.....punched 2, couldn't find a hatchery fish. Lost 5......ugh.......2 of those were jacks. Even with lost fish, the thrill of being on the river, oh so quiet and to see that rod "just bury" if what makes me enjoy that type of salmon fishing.

Saturday......2 of us fished.......same kind of day....2 fish each and again many fish lost.....1 FAVORITE rod broken......Hi-lite of the day, 2 fish on at same time.....trying to net a fish and play the fish you have on, a challenge.

This rain could just about end my days fishing that particular river....

Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so far, 4" at not so beautiful downtown Hoquiam. I will be dumping out my 5" rain gauge shortly for a refill. It is really coming down.

Good day for smokin' fish.

Probably got my last spinner grabs for the year on the Chehalis on Friday and again Sunday as she started to go out.

All is well that ends well, though.

The gage at Doty (highest up in the drainage) certainly seems to suggest that the Chehalis salmon season for 2012 is in the books. At last check, it was just below 12K, which compared to a long term mean of about 700 is a LOT of water, and probably a fair amount of mud and trees to boot.

Satsop flooding is imminent. Could get a bit messy in the Lower Chehalis Valley this week....

You could always bring a pitchfork and grab a few out of the ditch behind my house. I'm sure they will be there once the creek that it flows into gets muddied up. Not quite as sporting, though. wink

Smoking fish, curing eggs, and drinking Crown on this stormy Monday afternoon. Won't hear me complain much. Might start gearing up for steelhead while I'm at it.
