I was there and saw it first hand...weirdest thing I have ever seen. I'm going with FUKISHIMA Richardi.

Never a dull day on the water with Rico...he almost topped it when he caught a king at 2 feet on the line counter

To add a bit to the mystery a month ago a similar fish was checked at the Everett launch.

Best guess some sort of hybrid; coho/rainbow?

Looks to have some Dolly mix in it.

Are those spots an abnormal coloration, or are they exto-parasites?

A parasite would cause some confusion. But if you just look at the body type, it looks like a coho. So my guess is that it's a coho with an extreme case of an exto-parasite just under the skin. But that's just a guess.

No way that's an SRC. Spots would be more numerous on the upper half, especially in a large fish like that. I agree the body/tail shape screams coho. Everything else looks a little like a walleye (spot pattern, color, and dark, opaque eye).

All of which can only lead to this conclusion:

It's a coho-walleye hybrid, created in the Columbia drainage, that anadromized and strayed to whatever river Rico caught it on (not sure where that is, but it doesn't look much like the Columbia).

Or, maybe it's just a diseased coho. Or something else....

I see a VERY broad-based anal fin... so no trout/char. Gotta be salmon.

I also see dark lips, so no coho.

Anal fin suggests chinook, but tail is all wrong.

Perhaps spawned out EARLY chum.

Chum lip pattern is light dark light.... coho dark light dark... chinook just plain dark.

Skinny wrist and forked tail and BIG pupil go with chum... also lack of any NORMAL spots. (The parasitic ones don't count)

I was thinking salmon / char hybrid. Is that a hint of leading edge fin coloring indicative of a char?

The golden coloration and lots of spots hints towards cutthroat but you'd probably see some throat coloration as well and the spots are all wrong.
