From what I have seen, the tribes do appear to be taking a very conservative approach. My brother-in-law is a tribal fisherman out of Neah Bay and he stated that the restrictions included things like restricting them to using plugs. He felt it would be so hard to target even the kings that he was skipping out on that fishery for the most part and trying to focus on doing some commercial rod and reel bottom fishiing.

That said, this is is the way it will probably work out. The non-treaty side has a set impact set on what the projected runs are. We used up this impact in other fisheries, so no direct fisheries is going to be allowed in most areas. Some of the co-managers may have enough impact left to justify a short fishery, or will claim a short subsistence or ceremonial fishery. During this short time they likely will find out quickly if the numbers are correct or not. If an abundance exists, then they likely will have an emergency opening, while we are left standing on the bank waiting for the department to react.

hood canal will be a blood bath...and probably cant handle the pressure...and private land owners are gonna have a blast warding off all the Google map access finders as well im sure!
