I've always fished The Canal at 325 ft. Had good luck there, but I hear the sound is a little bit shallower. What are your depths for success in the canal versus the sound. I'll be in NW A-10, wondering what your depths for success has been in A-9, A-10 vs canal/A-12?

To me it varies year to year and day to day. I usually fish 8-2, 6, and 7 though. I set my first set at different depths from 250-350 to find them. This year I’m gonna see if my new 1kw transducer helps.

Shrimp are at the depth they're at (look for the fuzzy layer on the bottom with your sonar) but I find they are shallower for the first drop at 0700 than for the last drop as they move. I will start in 200'-250' for drop one and follow them deeper throughout the day. Hardest part in MA10 is trying to find enough room to drop/ pull pots without some other dude dropping right next to you. If you have buddies, coordinate with them to drop first pots in a perimeter and then move to drop remaining pots inside of that perimeter.

good luck!

I do the lower canal thing so YMMV. I target a ledge at 275ft and another at 320ft. Dark cloudy days I'll set both on the shallow ledge. Bright sunny days I go deeper.

I only have two pots left. So those are what I soak.
When those fail I'll probably quit the shrimping.
