On the slim chance that we'd have some fishable water on Idaho's Little Salmon River, my brother and I took the 9 hour drive from Idaho Falls to Riggins last week. When we came in sight of the Little Salmon I knew we had just embarked on a week of sleeping in, enjoying the scenery, and eating good food...because the "fishing" was nonexistant. The river conditions, due to the hot snap in the weather, had turned the water to a very close facsimile to Hershey Milk, and the flows went from around 3,200 cfs to close to 5k.

This afternoon Idaho Fish and Game released their updated Harvest Results for that week of June 20-26th. I about toppled from my seat! According to IDG there were 440 Chinook angled from the lower stretch of the Little Salmon River, the same river that was completey unfishable during the same time period.

I'm really disappointed in the IDFG and their "estimated" catch rates...
