Had an opportunity to fish Willapa Bay for the first time with four friends. Seemed that all of the "stars" were in alignment - early Sept., recent rains, good tides so off we went with high expectations.

Launched at Tokeland at daylight and headed to near South Bend for any Chinook staged there. Fished through the low tide with only a small silver in the box. Then ran out to just west of Tokeland and worked that through the incoming with a another small adult silver and a jack silver which seemed about what the other boats were doing.

Finished the day just outside the harbor and picked up one more small silver jack and hit the dock at 6:00 P.M.

Net result for five rods over twelve hours was two small adult silvers and two jack silvers. Not nearly what we were expecting. Oh well, we did go 4 for 4!! More importantly, it was a pleasant day fishing and did fulfill my goal of experiencing that fishery.
