Dude, where's my boat?

I have a 14 foot 3 piece ie 56inches per piece. Sage makes spey cases but 55" then 67". The 67 would work but I really only need a 57 to 58, these all allow the reels to be on during transport. I have a pontoon boat and with my single rods I break em down and put in case between runs, trying to keep rod safe during transport but dont want to mess with a big setup on every run with the spey. Any good cases out there besides Sage or should I just rig up a better rod holder and keep it together as I float?

I use "Scottie" rod holders on my toon, I never break them down while floating. But in my truck you can get custom made rod tubes (with reels on) go talk with Mike at Ted's (Lynnwwod)

where do you position the holders? I busted a tip on the stilly once with my rod in the holder and since then I have floated with them in a tube but with the spey I think the rod holder is the only good option.

My rods are always pointed up-stream (at about a 25 degree angle) while floating. The rod holders are mounted on the rail just behide the oar-lock on my Buck Bronco's and my Bad-Cat toons

Just my .02 cents here, but the question revolves around transporting your rod(s) while moving down streem on your pont. boat.

This is a tad strandge trying to type this with an anti vir. running. You only see the screen 'every so often,' so this could be pretty messed up.

Brian, as usual, is 'spot on,' don't worry about it. Only time it gets interesting is if the rod is a three section rod; if 4, break into two sections and it/the rod will be fine.

H2H,
Are your Scottie rod holders the standard type that the gear guys use? I know that they make them for single hand fly rods.
I'm assuming that you use the Scottie to hold your spey rod while floating?

Thanks,

Don

Yep

Just Scottie fly rods holders, spey rods fit just right in them.

Just the standard fly rod holder
