I'm having trouble locating glo-bug yarn and live in the Redmond area. Anyone know where I can get some?

I havent lived in this area for a few years and it has changed so much in the last five years but I will try. There used to be a outdoor type store (the name had something to do with "sport") that had lots of fishing gear heading east out of town just before Avendale Ave. Then I think there is a Sporties, or used to be, in Cross Roads. Thouse are the only two that I know of near Redmod.

Most likely that yarn will not be call "glo-bug" as that is a brand sold most often in fly shops. The yarn used for drift fishing is the exact same stuff. Try to buy the larger, more fluffy type as it somes in two sizes. I hope this helped! smile

thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that glo-bug yarn is a brand and not a type of yarn.

Package I have here unopened is labeled from "THE BUG SHOP" Anderson, CA (530-365-1368. Could probably order direct. Don't remember exactly where I bought mine but I think it was at the Holiday Market in Burlington.

I know for a fact Sportco has it as Fish Chaser said, Sunbirds has it at times too. As was indicated, the imitation stuff works, but is not as "fluffy". Just add a few extra strands and it will work just fine. Don't think "The Bug Shop" down in Ca has a website, I tried to find one a few months ago and couldn't. Ended up buying off of the Internet from Sportco. It is actually cheaper thru Sportco vs buying direct from the Bug Shop too.

You might want to also check out the new Mcfly Foam for egg and yarn patterns. Easier to tie a good egg pattern with it then the Glo Bug Yarn. Using the glo buy yarn for twenty years just started using McFly Foam 2 years ago. Its easier to tie with thats for sure.

Put it in your search engine and you will be able to find it on the net.

Good luck
