I caught and released a 44" King today I got the length but didnt get the girth as I didnt have a tape. I measured the fishes length by marking it on my rod. Im not a real good judge on guesing the size of Kings but this fish looked to be between 40 and 45#. It was really girthy.

Anybody out there have an idea what it weighed.

Rich, I got two kings last week that both measured 42" long and had girths of 27" and 28". They were wieghed on a scale that was known to be pretty accurate and weighed in at 37 and 40 pounds respectfully. I'd say your estimate is pretty close

Thanks Bmac. I played one on the same river last year that was much bigger. Had it on for a good 25 min before it got the best of my 10# line.

This time is was a little better prepared with 12# UG but it pushed my 1084 to the limit with the 40 minute fight. This was my biggest King landed to date to bad I was alone and there was knowone around to take any photos. It was a tough fish, as it swam away very strong before I could even try and revive it. We beat the hell out of each other before it was all over.

The second first for me was that he took the pink worm. First king ive caught on that.

Rich G probably right around 43 pounds. That's what one I got years ago weighed out to at that length. Wow...really nice fish.

Rich, congrats, nice fish, I would guess 44 lbs. plus or minus 2lbs. depending on girth.

I had this same question last Sunday and the guys gave me a couple of good answers. Formula #1: lenghth x girth x girth / 750. Formula #2: There is a nifty fish weight calculator @ http;//www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/8482/calc.html smile hope it helps! laugh null
