Well, it's that time of year again. I posted this last year, but with Chums starting to be discussed again, I just can't help myself, so here is my ode to Chum fishing, as inspired by quite a few hours at John's Creek, Hoodsport, Kennedy Creek, Potlatch, the Nisqually, etc.:

Look at them Chumsters, ain't they nuts?
Snaggin' them Chum Salmon in they butts!

Fifty-'leven Chumsters - only ten feet of bank?
Jus'insert the Chumster wedge, rotate and crank!

They wedge right between you, they don't be polite.
They squeeze in, sleeze in - fight, fight, fight!

They got fifty pound test line and big treble hooks.
They floggin' the water. Got psycho looks!

They don't look left. And they don't look right.
They jus' flingin' they lines wherever they might.

And somehow, ever' time they crosses you
it's "you're over me, bud!" but they ain't over you!

When they gets a Chum on, it's woe be to you.
It's "Fish on! Look out guy! Comin' through!"

They Chum runs left, right, 'round and through.
But they Chum is always in front of you.

So they foul up your line and those lines over there,
But Chumster ain't tangled, so he don't care.

Snaggin' them Chums by all they fins.
Snaggin' them Chums mostly in they ends.

Snaggin' them big Chums, snaggin' them tiny.
Snaggin' all them Chums, mostly in they hiny.

Wanna be a Chumster? Don't get in no rut.
Jus' get out there 'n snag some Chum by they butt!

Good one T'. I think that's the same song they sang on the Kilchis and Miami rivers near Tillamook - until they snagged them almost to extinction.

Think about this: How in the heck can anyone get off by snagging chums in the ass?!? Must be the same idiot guys that got off pulling little girl's hair braids back in grade school. Or worse? Maybe snaggers have similar mentality as rapists - they can't catch fish or women, so snag and rape. Get 'em off the rivers and streets!

In my rant post I forgot to mention that your rhyme post is good T'! ... Do you remember as a young kid watching the Mary Poppins movie? I don't - I just rented it the other day; just loved it. Their is a song in it called 'Chim chimeree' or something. Here's my version; sing to the music of the movie song:

OMG. I'm laughing my ass off on that one Tad. I can highly relate. I just love it when they hook one, land it, then exclaim "it's legal". Ya buddy, can fish inhale through their arses now????? Too funny.

Jerry Garcia- I've been on a construction job for the past several months and as such, haven't had the time to even go fishing, let alone get on the computer and rant about it. Thats the bad part of working construction, when I'm busy, I'm really busy.... Too busy to fish, too busy to drink, too busy to f#ck, too busy to do anything other than work and sleep. Anyhow, things are begining to slow down for me a little bit now. We are back to working only 50 hrs a week, and soon I hope to be down to 40. Besides the whole work thing, I sort of decided to take a break from the board for a while. The tribal stuff and the whole lining/ snagging debate sort of started to burn me out on the board. I'd sign on in a good mood and by the time I was done here on the board, I was all pissed off and ready to kill somebody. That's not what fishing is about. Anyhow, I'm back now, so look for my posts..... thanks for asking
