Anybody else been seeing some new tadpolly colors on the shelves lately and more of them on hand in general? I was recently told that they were basically out of production for the past several years but Heddon was recently picked up by another company who has started cranking them out again. I never knew they weren't making them anymore in the first place.

Anyway, let's start the annual "What's your favorite color?" thread again.

My favorite color of plugs for Steelhead are solid Blue or Green metallic. Sometime blue or green pirates too.

That's a hard one, due to Salmon Vs. Steelhead and from system to system. But the all around favorite
for both would have to be the blue silver pirate. With
the metalic pink black bill #1 for steelies (AKA)
Doctor death. For king's I like the chrome/black back orange dot on belly (AKA) Salmon nail it steelhead inhail it.Good luck,

Here's more info than you probably want on Tadpollies. Heddon has always made them, but they discontinued general production some time ago, and only made special runs for a distributor here in the Northwest. While the company is still part of PRADCO (Bomber, Rebel, Silver Thread, and others), it just started general production of Tadpollies again.

There are two sizes-- the Mag Clatter Tadpolly and the regular size that comes both with and without a rattle. There are 14 colors.

I have always had luck with the Cop Car in clear water. I also like blue pirate.

Thanks for the info kjackson. Anybody else whose seen the new "sunfire" color scheme like the looks of it? Or am I just another victim of a lure catching more fishermen than fish?

Looking forward to trying it out...

Bruce

Hey plug puller, would cop car be the white one with black dots? Or vice versa?

Dark Purple, the summer clear water Steely Killer. Haven't been able to find them until recently, but have been buying the nickel shiners and painting them myself. Good Results!

Bruce, cop car is the white with the black bill. I also put my vote in for the metallic pink for steelies and have done well with metallic silver/red herringbone.

Many Tads will take the biters, but the 35 Hotshot in black/silver p-lite will catch dogs or SH whether they are biting or not!! They are like putting a bone in front of your dog. They'll take it every time.

es, Coop car is the black bill and white body. I forget but is blue pirate the one with the red bill and blue body. I was just at BiMart and they are almost out of tadpoly's but they have a few wiggle warts left. I picked up a green with red bill (i think that is green pirate, can anyone confirm)
I am floating a SW washington river on next wednesday and there should be a ton of silvers and maybe a few steelies. I am pumped with all of this rain it looks like the river might be fishable about then. wink laugh

Hi Bruce,
'polys are great, and in all those colors mentioned. But don't forget to buy up some good colors and all chrome (to custom paint) Wiggle Warts while you can.

If I had to go with just 2 colors, one for clearer water and one for colored water, it would be my custom painted "Injured Baitfifsh" for clearish water and the 'cop car w/ flashing red light' for colored water.

Use the search feature for instructions on the Injured Baitfish for plugs and Kwikies (half chrome and half metalic blue, lengthwise on the sides, with a flame red arrow shaped lure tape on the under side near the tail, and one lure tape fisheye under the forward blue half side). Two ways to get the 'red light' going on your cop cars (to arrest fish rolleyes ): 1 - Use florescent flame red lure tape in arrow shape under the back end. 2 - For Warts (and Kwikies), use a single hook on a 4 bead chain off the belley loop and put a red or cerise small Gooey Bob about mid chain, and scent it.
