My dad and I finally got out steelhead fishing today. We haven't gone steelheading together for two years. My dad has never caught a steelie. Well after 15 minutes of being at this small olympic peninsula river I hooked up. After my dad opened up every pocket in my vest he finally found my cmaera which by this time the steelie was tired. It ended up being a 27x13 inch hatchery buck. 45 minutes later I hooked in to a chum and remembered how many times he gave me the rod when he got a fish on, so I gave him the rod and he landed it which made him and I happy. I will ost the pic when I get them developed.

Krome,
I got it on a corky and yarn no eggs. I have only got one steelie on a jig. I had my dad use a jig and float to try and get him one that way cuz it is easy to see if he has a bight.
Gooose,
Was that you with the brown or camo coat on above me? I have bad eyes without my glasses. You will know where I am talking about when I say "watch out for the donkeys." I just abou t got charged again yesterday. They freak me out. Did you have any luck?

Chris

Plug Puller not the Donkey spot again! I was further west...probably run into you one of these days as it sounds like we hit the same small rivers. Rec' you get some female cougar scent...guaranteed to scare off those Donk's but lookout for rednecks and hound dogs. eek

Gooose laugh

Thanks Krome, yeah I am not a virgin in that catagory.

Yeah gooose,
If the big rivers aren't fishable this weekend I might go to the donkey spot rolleyes or to the river that you were at. Did you have any luck there?
I think that I will hold off on the scent because you know what some of the fisherman around that area are like. laugh I won't have to worry about the donkeys or those big cows.
tight lines and hope to see you out there. laugh

Congratulations, StorminN,

If you enjoyed it half as much as your smile says you did, I feel sorry for you.

Jobs, wives/girlfriends, families, and pretty much the rest of your friends (that don't fish) will likely suffer due to the particular affliction that you have just contracted.

Good luck on number two!!

Fish on...

Todd.

Hey thanks, guys... yeah, I'm hooked. Normally all I'm thinking about this time of the year is going snowboarding, but this year, it's a whole different game...

and no, I didn't catch it on a jig... didn't I read somewhere that float & jig fishing is like "training wheels"? jk... I got it on a corky and yarn, and a wee little trace of sand shrimp tail (like cast #20 for that tail, I'm one of those guys that doesn't like using bait)...

I will try the jigs, though... it will give me another excuse to use the fly-tying vise, and I can think of waters that would be better fishing with a float... I just hate rigging those teeny little float stoppers... almost as much as I hate using bait... just a hassle.
