I had posted awhile ago about anyone interested in joining a club. At the time, there were only a few people. I kinda put it on hold. Lately, I've noticed more and more people buying them or asking about them. I figured I'd try it again. Here we go......

I want to start up a club for people who have catarafts/pontoon boats. This will be a free club for now (and as I foresee will always be free). What I want to do is basically have a questionare with name, address, phone number, rivers floated, etc etc. Then basically make it mostly via internet. Newsletters via internet to save postage. I figured we could plan a yearly/biyearly float trip(s). A big armada floating a river and fishing. Oh yeah, before I forget, I want this to be a fishing cataraft club. There are whitewater clubs at present, but I want a fishing club. I figured we could do an exchange a float (you could teach one guy a river then he'll teach you one he knows). What I'd like is an idea on what you'd like and if you'd really be interested in joining. Figured somewhere down the road if it takes off we could actually have a banquet of sorts. I am not looking to make a buck, just want to get people together with similar interests.

Thanks for any responses...Jerry

Jerry, don't have a cataraft at this time but have been thinking of getting one........alot of smaller rivers close by I'd love to use one on. I think a club is a great idea and if I get one you can count me in!

I will be purchasing a pontoon boat soon and would be interested in the club scene and the information that would certainly circulate.

Hey Os, why not just go down and do a weeklong float on the Rogue? Hit some of those awesome class 4+ rapids down there. Hey, I'd even go for some of those huge whitewater rivers over in Russia. LOL

Ok, I'll leave this thread open and just start writing down names as I go. In fact, if you're interested in joining (except you Os, I know you) send me an email and I can keep you on file that way....thanks

Hey Spoony, what do you exactly mean by what's the best boat? Do you mean who is the best maker of a cataraft or do you mean what is the best boat period? A cataraft isn't a brand, it's a type of boat. Best cataraft is a Wing. If you talk with a hardcore riverrunner, they'll say a cataraft is the best boat. Just depends on who you talk to.

Not up on the lingo so fill me in. I see a few pontoon boats on the river and I personally have some drift boat experience. I want to open up a few more miles of river for myself by getting a one person pontoon boat. Im looking for brand names that are best suited for stealheadin. I do know that it's a matter of taste but give me your opinion anyway. Thanks - SS
