I'm going out on Sunday my wife wants some clams, I've never Razor clamed before. What do you look for and should I get a clam gun?

Try visiting this page on the site: Clamming Info ... although it's based in our Alaska section, all the info there would pertain to digging clams down here as well. It'll describe what you need to do and cleaning, etc. Good luck and have fun!

Just came back from Long Beach from 2 days of clamming.....They were really down deep....every one was 2 feet down. Don't wait until you get to the beach for that licence....or you might not get one. Two rows of parked cars.... REMember...DON'T WASTE......

Everybody and his brother was at Long Beach. Not familiar with any other area that is open. Go at least an hour before low tide...if now two,as many people were there today 2 hours before. DON'T CHEAT....The guy next to you may be checking you and the game force was there both days....Keep what you dig. Each person needs their own bucket or onion sack but you can share the gun. We had ours made,,,somebody in Sherwood is making them and I'll get the info later if you want. You get 15 clams. Put them in sea water and they'll keep so you can clean them the next day. 15 isn't a lot but we ate at a very nice place that had 1 clam for $7.95 so our cache seemed very valuable....I've also been paid $75 in restitution for my clams that were stolen one time...another story. Be sure to read Bob's clam info but he knows I will never, never, never dip them in hot water to get them out of the shell. We drove down the Washington side but never again. It is longer. Drive the Oregon side to the Astoria bridge...

I know it might be a little late, but try Ocean Shores. I took the ol' lady & 10 yr old son on Friday and we had 3 limits in about 15 minutes. Probably the fastest limit we have had as a family.
Not a whole lot of people, but that could change today.
The clams weren't necking, but they were showing well. Got quite a few moss backs and had great time.
