Hey, guys, I need help finding public boat launches on the Skagit. Especially on the lower river and down around the N. and S. forks. I know about the one in Mt. Vernon by the bridge and one in Sedro Wolley not to mention Rockport and upriver but I'm looking for info. on the new Burlington ramp and any others you might want to share.

Anybody that is kind enough to share is welcome to come out and slay some fish with me over the next few weeks.

Thanks in advance and I'll see ya on the river. Peace

Justin

Kid,

There is one down at the bottom end of the North Fork (its owned by a "resort"). Can't recall the name but its just prior to the salt.

Take the Conway exit off of I-5. Go West and take the first right just before you go over the river. Take the left into the parking lot and the launch is under the bridge. That puts you almost at the head of the NF I believe. I think the Spud Bar isn't too far upstream from there.

Good luck laugh

Yo Kid!

Take the Conway exit (stop in at the Texaco, they have the freshest sans shrimp on earth)go over I-5 and take the immdiate right. Go over the South Fork (good launch right there)for approximately 5 miles until you pass a roadside stand,(look for the blue lettered "Blakes Resort & RV park" sign) turn left and go aprrox. one mile and turn right down the dirt road to Blakes. You will se it on the right. There is an excellent paved launch there, $5 charge to launch and the best water for pinks on the North Fork immediately upstream and down from the resort. Been fishing there for 25 years, man. Good shiznit, nice people run the resort.

Thanks for the info, guys, I appreciate it. Haven't had a chance to get out there and rip 'em up since I got sick. Almost better now so I'll be out there soon enough. Peace and thanks again.

Hey Kid,There is another launch on the lower Skagit, about 1/4 mile upriver from a great pink and coho slot.Take the Conway to LaConner road.Follow that until you pass the turn to Blake's Resort and the Fruit and Vegetable stand. The main road then turns left to cross the river but you go straight following the dike about 1/4 mile .You will see a driveway on your left that goes up over the dike. That is called Red Barn. It's a prety good launch and cost a buck in the can.Don't take the very first left at the bend in the road. There is good bank access there but no launch. That is called Garbage Hole.
Are you still interested in fishing the saltchuck for coho?

Justin, give me a call over the weekend. The Conway launch is perfect, I used to
put in there and fish cutts. and my friend
Gene Lewis has been doing well on pinks up
at spud bar, he also knows some good launches
in the lower river that are not well known.

Bigdog, thank you, I'd been wondering where the damn Red Barn launch was. Let's get out and get some silvers anytime. laugh

Jerry, Superfly didn't give me the strange ailment. I think I got it from fooling around with this married chick. Damn karma catching up to me agian rolleyes

Doug, Saw lots of boats similar to yours on the lower Skagit last week. should be no problem as long as you have a bow anchor system. Let me know if you want to go.

Cigar Man, I'll give you a call tonight. I have clients on Sunday and I might head down tomorrow afternoon to scout it out. I am thinking of a morning float on "the river that gets lots of steelhead after the first good rains in late August". If it's anything like it was last year, then we should be in business. Talk to ya later.

Thanks again to everybody who was generous enough to kick down the info on the boat launches. Hope you guys can make it out this fall if all goes well and I get my new sled. Ooops, did I let the cat out of the bag? wink

Below you will find a picture of RT with a not-so-virgin-any-more king salmon. Man, that RT sure brings a whole new meaning to NIGHT FISHING hehe
