My Dad told me that the water was to cold and they were trying to get out.

I've heard on good authority that fish jump out of the water for the same reason that kids jump in.

I think it's alot to do with getting home safely, ya know without getting caught in the nets!! Also, I beleive it has something to do with the barometric pressure.
