My dad brought me up fishing for trout. We were fishing on the snake (above Asotin if anyone knows where that is) with worms. It was just about dark and I got this nibble. I set the hook and it didn't move. After I found out it wasn't a trout I didn't try to horse it in, I was only using 4lbs line. I fought it for 45 minutes well in to dark. As soon as I got it next to the beach I made a mistake that I would never make again and try to give it a little more pressure. Well, SNAP line broke and it was gone. That is my only encounter of Carp in my life. The next year I got the calling (for salmn and steelhead) I haven't looked back since.
