RT maybe you can shed some light on this one. I noticed a car from oregon today with a salmon license plate. Is this something special that proceeds go towards salmon enhancement? If so, Is this something that would or could benift us here in washington? I know you can get seattle mariner plates and even college plates. Would anybody else be interested in paying and extra yearly fee to have say a steelhead license plate? If enough proceeds where raised it could help all concerned. Just a thought, interested in hearing others opinions on this. Thanks, and no nets.

Yes RT, please answer. I am renewing my plates in the nest week and was kicking around the idea. I am going to their site to look for info on the salmon plates.

The Oregon plate that you saw costs twice as much as a normal oregon plate. The increase in the biyearly registration fee goes tword the enhancement of the salmon program in oregon. Not a bad idea if you ask me.

Would any Washington anglers be interested in a salmon or steelhead plate for us that would enhance our sport? I sure would. :p

Here is what I found from the WDFW page on the Washington plates. "Over 90% of the purchase and the entire renewal fee supports the conservation and management of our fish and wildlife resources" Initial license plate purchase: $ 44.00 Annual renewal fee: $ 30.00
If I remember right it goes to help non game type of animals in Washington.

Here's a link to find out about the Washington program. You can check online to see if your plate request is available. http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/viewing/plp.htm "The money that comes from the sale of Personalized License Plates is, by law, directed to the Department of Fish and Wildlife for the management of wildlife which are not hunted, fished, or trapped." Whew. For a minute there I thought this thread was about putting a little license plate on each fish.
