I ditched work alittle early today with a couple hundred bonus dollars in my pocket. Burning a hole in my pocket that is. Stopped by Auburn S&M on impulse and bought a G Loomis 1024c GL2. I had decided to buy a Lami 1306 but after hearing a couple of bad warranty stories I went with the Loomis. The Loomis is probably no better than the Lami but the over the counter warranty (sp?) sold me. Well I slapped my reel on and headed up the Green. I had fished this river many times this season and had no success. Well second cast and I hooked up. Felt this subtle bite, set the hook and the fun began. Faught and landed a nice 6lb native buck. As I brought the fish in to me I just reached down and slid the hook out easily. He swam right next to me for a few seconds and slipped back out into the river. It was cool. First fish on my new rod, first Nate of the year, first fish on the Green this year. I hope this is a sign of the kind of career this Loomis and I are going to have. Good luck this weekend Gents

What a great way to break in a new rod!! I tend to base the value of my fishing rods on their fish worthyness. If I have a G Loomis or a Lami that hasn't yet caught a fish, the old ugly stick is worth far more!! Tight lines!!

Thats funny, my first trip out with my New GL3 1024c last year was to the green and I nailed three fish in the teens. That rod became my new best friend. Over the next 5 trips after that I landed another 14 fish. Yes I had a good winter season last year. I have since landed countless humpies and silvers on the rod and even a 30+ pound king.

Good choice in rods.
