Has anyone been hitting any fish on the Sauk? Fished the middle drift tue. and the lower thur. No fish, talked to a bank fisherman who said he hooked one above Gov. bridge but it's been slow.
Also how is the drift from Darrington down.Any info is appreciated

I fished the drif from darrington down two weeks ago, and we only hooked a few nice dollies.

There is one dangerous section that you need to be aware of. There is a logjam that is a real boat-eater if you do not scout it out first. The spot is about halfway down the drift, and is marked by a life jacket on a pole about 100 yards above the spot. However, the logjam is not visible untill it is too late. My estimate is that you can float past the logjam if you are set-up correctly, but due to the obstructed view, you will need to scout it first.

Search this forum for Sauk danger, and you will see a pic of the spot.

Haven't floated in a couple of weeks but last float there was just the one marked log jam as far as danger goes, could have floated around it but we walked it for safety...Beautiful water, three Dollies last float....

I have been very disappointed in the Sauk lately. It has been slower than a three-legged pig in a horse race and the water has been loooowwwww to boot. The upper river is gnarly as ever this year and I strongly suggest staying off of it unless you are very very good on the oars. I am afraid to say that the predictions for a low run of steelies this year are correct. Even the dollies are starting to thin out. frown

Ditto for me.

Spent nine hours on the Sauk and Skagit yesterday with two dollies and three whitefish for my efforts.

Heard of one caught at the native hole, and the gamies said they heard of one on the river.

River conditions were pretty damn good, too. Sauk was pretty much perfect, Skagit was a little too clear, but flowing nicely.

Where are the fish?

Todd.

Drifted her 5 times only touched 2 fish. Very slow, talked with a lot of other guys and they said the same thing. Why the hell they closed the
snohomish system and left this one open is beyond
me.The fish and game uses junk science to predict how many native steelhead will return and like someone else posted should have shut this one down too!
