I am thinking about hitting the Kalama on Sunday and was wondering what the water conditions have been in the past few days? Any help would be greatly appreciated. smile

Might try calling Kalama River Bait & Tackle.
Number is 360 673 7466
River should be in great shape, no rain for the last few days, forcast is for showers later today and tomorrow. Dosen't sound like enough rain to cause much damage.
Plan on going out tomorrow myself.
Good Luck!

You can call Pritchards also, they have a recorded line that will give you river conditions and a fishing report. Just know that it is rare that they will say fishing is slow on the report :)acording to them fishing is always great. 360-673-4690

I have to agree with Firedog on Pritchards reports, they rank right up there with the Fishing & Hunting (propaganda) News, when it comes to river reports.

LAST YEAR I CALLED THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE RIVER LOOKED LIKE AND THEY SAID UP A LITTLE AND VERY FISHABLE. I DROVE 360 MILES ROUND TRIP TO FIND THE RIVER BLOWN OUT NEAR FLOOD STAGE. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WALKED IN THERE AND TOLD THEM WHAT I THOUGHT OF THEIR F------ REPORT. TO SAY THEY BEND THE TRUTH IS A UNDERSTATMENT.

I always thought Pritchards was pretty accurate. Everytime I call them and get a good report and go up myself fishing usually turns out real good..

I fish the Kalama on average about once a week. I usually check the Prichard's report before I go. I have not found their reports to be inaccurate. It's a valuable service and I appreciate it.

The river reports are usually right on, it is just that at times they stretch the fishing reports a bit wink I usually get my fish also but they will embellish a bit. But most fisherman do that smile

Hell who needs a report when it is more satisfactory to go and figure it out yourself.. Nothing wrong with trying to get some water levels over the phone though, especially during the winter time..
But the kalama always does well this time of year.

Fished the Kalama on Sunday and got skunked! Saw 2 fish caught. 1 bright steelie and 1 so dark that the fish checker couldn't get the guy to take it out of the bag so she could see it! eek I guess he was afraid the meat would fall off and he'd have nothing left to put in the smoker. The fish checker said that it's been really slow and that she's not looking forward to the extra traffic that the Columbia closure will put on the Kalama and her job.(Must say that the fish checkers are getting better looking) Anyway, it was a beutiful day to spend on the river cool

I'd have to agree with you on that fish checker up there Craig. Any woman that can do that job and look that good deserves a raise.
