Just got back from a day at the point.Saw one fish in the am caught.Fish checker did not offer much hope.Does sound like when they have been getting a couple it has been an evening thing.Heard of one being caught on salsbairy Pt,north of the bridge. There should be a good shot turning the corner into the canal any time.good luck, hopefully they will make a showing for you!

I am begining to believe that the fish are not just late.I am usually catching silvers over here in bremerton already and it does not sound like the bulk have even found seiku.Time will tell.

Any body have logs good enough to document how strong the run was in 99?I seem to remember not that strong.

Don't know about 99, but WDFW records show the following numbers of coho caught:

1995 -- 177,000
1996 -- 174,000
1997 -- 209,000
1998 -- 138,000 frown

Of course, there are many factors beyond # of returning adults. Favorable ocean conditions can boost survival rates. Let's hope the silvers are just hanging out in the open ocean gorging themselves. I've heard others speculate that this year's sockeye and kings seemto be bigger than years past.

Regards.

Thanks for the feedback. I checked with the fish counter Monday a.m. when I left pnp and he said pretty much the same thing. No luck on the silvers in most places. Scattered results. Still, I'm going to give it a try again Thursday morning...they've got to show up one of these days.

I was talking to a fellow fisherman Monday who reported much improved catch results when using spinners over buzz-booms. I wish some interprizing person would open up a bait shop on the Kitsap side with fresh herring.

Thanks again,
Marc

Manchester Store has fresh bait on the weekends. Puget Sound Herring sales in Gig Harbor always has it $3.00 dozen. Best bet is Narrows Marina You get a heavy dozen for $2.89.

I got Silvers (Boat Limit) at Southworth today. No size to them yet but when I found them they were thick. They were sexuallymature fish also. Yukon harbor holds lots of them.

Jason, thanks for the info on where to get herring. I'm new to salmon fishing and new to the area so am all ears. I heard from a fishing buddy today that the Silvers started to show up at PNP Tuesday. I'm going out Friday morning to see for myself.

hey little cleo, 99 was one of the worst returns on record thats why they had it closed for areas 9 and 10 from september 15 to october 1 to save the bulk of the run in 2000. but it was a very strong run with largeer than average fish so next year should be a solid but there is a lack of baby silvers this summer than in recent years.

hey jason I was banking it there before work and released two around 2 to 3 lbs around 8:30 am. when that eddie formed at the left side of the point for about 1 hour.

I fished that eddie this morning and it really looked fishy but only saw one silver taking all morning.
