It happend, it really did. I actually lost a downrigger off my boat. Ugh. I thought the safety chains were overkill, so I ditched them a while back, but sadly one poorly fastened downrigger is now at the bottom of the Sound. the worst of it was limping through a decent bite with a single downrigger. My fishing buddy did introduce me to my first 'pink lady' caught silver, so that was cool. I checked the BB classifieds for a Penn 625 downrigger, but did not see one there. Any ideas on a replacement resource, short of paying retail?

Thanks in advance,

Jon

I think the 625 is a manual right?

I was in the back of the parts area of 3 rivers marine last week and they had a few on the shelf. call them and see if they will sell you an old used one.

Thanks, I will do that. Yes ,it is a manual one and if $$ were not so tight I would throw the other over too (jk) and get a set of electrics. I was real impressed with that 3 Rivers shop, gives me a good excuse to visit and check out their gear anyhow.

I've got a Penn 600 w/swivel mount hanging up in my garage that I never use. If anybody is interested in it then let me know. I'd like to open up some space on the wall:) Jack

I ended up buying a new Penn 625 today since I needed the extension boom, and so forth, anyhow. Plus, I am paying to have my boat on the water so I can fish in the mornings and limping on one leg too much longer would have gotten real old. I am not sure if there are others that have lost real nice gear so suddenly before, but it shocked the h_ll out of me. Things sure do happen fast out there sometimes, and I have fished my boat for 10 years - felt a bit like a rookie. shocked
