Just a quick question. Has anyone had any luck with steelhead jigs in the salt. If so, does the standard set up work, ie. Thill float and 1/8 jig under. Also which colors do you recommend?
Thank you.

I have been catching most my silvers in shallow water casting 1/4 oz flash jigs to silvers. seen alot of schools of chums with the always 10 lb plus silver leading them on there way with the silver pulling from the chums and takin it and thats very rare. and thats what has sold me on these jigs is sight fishen them the last few years with the late and mature fish it has worked better than anything. been selling them as fast as I can make them sometimes around some of the shore spots. cast the jig to a school of silvers and watch them make love to it. went to a tide rip around manchester yesterday in the boat among all the anchored freighters and would let it sink and moderatly twitch it back and thats the only time I fished off the shallow water and it totally kicked ass. use a 7 ft rod spinning rod like for worm fishing and senkos for bass with 8 lb test. fill your other spool with 14 lb test for fishing off piers to schools so you can just lift them off the water. dont use a bobber. with a good reel and light line you can cast farther than you think. gonna have the next to weeks off so if you see anybody up at the point and area using jigs or selling trolling flies, fly flicken flies and jigs say whats up. got many tied up. Ben
