Looking to buy a good pair of polarized sunglasses for river fishing, any recommendations on a good brand that works well on the rivers?. The sunglasses I have now are polarized but there to dark.

costa del mar, spendy but are some sick shades, don't wear them for fishing though. got some stren wrap arounds for $25 in cabelas, they come with two interchangable lenses, dark gray for super bright conditions and an amber lens for low light(i use these almost exclusively)

ps less expensive shades also offer some protection from airborn hooks and lead, friend of mine had to wear an eye patch after taking lead in the eye, luckily no permanent damage

Any reccomendations for prescription eyeglass wearers for polarized glasses. I'll be gettin some new ones soon and would welcome any comments. I'll also try the search feature as I seem to remember a couple of pretty in-depth discussions. Thanx

Action Optics offers prescription lenses in alot of their frames. I would check them out. I have owned two pairs of their glasses and have had no complaints.

I do alot of spot fishing in the smaller streams and by far I would go with a amber lens, they work good in all conditions. There is no need to go out and get a pair for 100 + greenbacks, go to any sports shop and get you a pair for under 20, they work just as good and alittle easier on the wallet....

I'll disgree with the recommendations for the cheapies ... I think you get what you pay for, to a point anyhow.

I have both Action Optics and Maui Jim's (I would have never spent this mauch on glasses as tough as I am on them, but Fishgal & I took the rep and his family clamming and he gave us some certificates for our choice of glasses as a tip

Both far outperform both in polarizing ability and acuity the cheapies I've tried in the past.

For a medium $$$ pair, the Action Optics are super ... I've had very good luck with mine and they are my everyday pair of glasses on the boat. The Maui Jim's stay in the car where I won't drop them overboard!!

Maui Jims, I have two pair and wouldn't leave home without them. Check out Costco got my last pair there for around $80 bucks. Broke a temple on the first pair they replaced them for $10.

Maui Jim's are by far the best I have found.
I wear hard contacts and am very light sensitive. I never go outside without sunglasses.. I wear mine 365 days a year!
I have a new pair of Maui Jim Typhoon's and they are great! I also have a pair of Maui Jim Ti.'s for driving and they too a great!
Spend the extra money and buy the Maui Jims..

I have lost too many pairs of glasses to spend the big bucks.I usually leave them on top of my car when undressing at the end of the day.

Does anybody out there know where to get the good old fashined polorized fishing glasses with glass lenses?Everybody has the old style but with cheap lenses that scratch the first time you wipe them off.

not sure what your budget is like but if you want some low cost you ought to consider some fitovers.

Costco has the best prices on Maui Jims. They run about $100 but keep your eyes open for a sale. As to the lost sunglasses arguement.....

Do you lose your fishing poles too? Tackle box? Waders? Car keys?

I used to forget my $10 sunglasses all the time... I've had my $100 Maui Jims for 2-1/2 years now. I wear them everyday, everywhere.

The difference between cheap sunglasses and Maui Jims is: You take off your cheap sunglasses whenever you can and you wear your Maui Jims whenever you can! They are worth the money!!

Can't complain about my Smith SL2's with interchangeable lenses. I use them all the time. Come with a lifetime warranty. Busted a pair when fishing with goforchrome. Smith replaced them, for free.

Buy a $2.50 glasses saver thingy (Chums), and they'll always stay around your neck.
