Was it the large spring run-off in '98.... the Pike Minnow bounty.... a restriced ElNino .... enhanced conservation efforts by WDFW.... or just plain luck? What-ever, we have enjoyed the bounty of experiencing runs that have been lackluster in the past... Cheers to those fortunate enought to enjoy.....

Glad to hear things are going well on the dry side of region smile

Any differences in smolt plants that would account for the returns?? Just big hatchery returns for you, or are the wild fish fairing as well?

Several things lined up - big flows to get the smolts throught the dams and into a La Nina ocean with cold water and no jack mackerel mostly, and ESA curtailments on harvest and development on top of that.

Of course then we get drought, El Nino is back, so are gillnets (only now they are called "tangle nets" mad ), and we elected Republican developers to run the country roughshod over ESA for the benefit of property rights advocates (the Klamath is only the beginning frown ). Enjoy it while you can, it won't last long <img border="0" alt="[fragile]" title="" src="graemlins/fragile.gif" />
