The state plans to cut out the Sol Duc hatchery with the proposed budget cuts in the near future. Does anyone know what the future of the Snider Creek fish will be since approx. 70,000 of those fish are reared at the Sol Duc hatchery?

Will they rear them at Snider or cut it out completely?

Let me start off by letting you know that every few years the Sol Duc Hatchery comes up on the chopping block. If it does happen this time then there is gonna be a whole bunch of lawsuits filed by the OPGA,Quillayute Tribe,City of Forks and who ever else feels the need. It puts out the lowest amount of smolts in the state and has the biggest return. Plus the fish are all bigger then any other state hatchery. If it does close I am sure that the Bogi Hatchery will take over the job. They just need someone to incubate the eggs till they hatch and then they go into the Snyder Creek pond at the hatchery. Lets all hope they dont close it.
