We sell complete kits. We have the TH 9000 7'6" 6-14# on special this month (great plug rod) .. kit price $90
Kit includes blank (Rainshadow GL4 quality) guides hardloy, graphite reel seat and corks.
guide spacing and can supply you with anything else you may need. (brushes, finish, thread etc.)
Let me know if you have specific questions. It may be best to buy a rod building book. Look into, "Do it yourself Rod building" by Bill Stinson it as easy to follow step by step book.

Call Anglers Workshop 360-225-9445 they carry it.

Feel free to email me or give me a call

Chris, I just built the rainshadow blank that TH refers to - it's a good plug rod blank. Write me if you have any questions, I've built more than a few rods. Also, check out the rod building bulletin board at www.virtualflyshop.com for good info.

Anglers workshop has good stuff and info. So does Schoff's in Kent. And Schoff's needs our business.

Chris here is a link to a rod building BB. rodbuilding.org There is a lot of good info on there. As far as good plug blanks the one TH mentioned is excellent, also fiberglass blanks are excellent for plugging. You can go to Lamiglass'a website and they have some deals from time to time.Loomis will send you a blank catalog also and it will desribe the actions and list the types of blanks they carry. Building your own rods is fun and easy once you get the hang of it. Good Luck rodbuilding.org

Hi Chris: There are different setups depending on how you want to fish your plugs. If your fishing from a drift boat then the short rod is the ticket however if you are fishing them from the bank as I do a longer rod has advantages.
I usually fish "hot shot"plugs either the #35 a deep running 2 1/2" steelhead plug or the #25 3 1/4" deep runner from a float rod of either 12 or 14 foot length.
With a 14 foot rod you can cast to the far shore let it swing and work and then wade downstream fishing about a 30 foot swath by simply
alternating sides with the rod No casting just let the plug work about 40'downstream and move your rod tip from one side to the other. It all depends on the type of water you have on your favorite river.

Hey Chris,

Talk to Ben at Quality Flyfishing Shop in Port Angeles 360-452-5942, he sells Rainshadow and Pac Bay blanks and kits, and I'm sure he'd give you a rod building class if you asked him. He's not that far away from you, and he's a super nice guy.

I was there last night getting fly-tying lessons.
