I have been reading some posts that the sturgeon fishing is good between the Fishery and the dam. I have only put in at Rooster Rock and fished the wall, the flats upriver, and near the falls up river. If I put in at the Fishery ramp, what water do I fish from there for sturgeon? Fish the flats, the channel, or any holes to fish? And is fresh smelt still the go-to bait right now?

Any help or info is much appreciated! wink

Amato Publications http://www.amatobooks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv? has a good book called "Great White Sturgeon Angling."

Springtime above the Fishery is very heavy water and most of the fish are oversize. I'd recommend going with someone who knows this water at least once. People sink boats up there. Caution aside, it's a kick! Huge fish in heavy water.

Save your smelt for next year. Whatever is getting chopped up in the turbines is the best bait. Soon, that will be Shad.

Good luck!
