My co-worker, Shawn, hooked into this 15 1/2# Redondo king trolling right on the surface at 0600 this morning.
He was using the "Easy Limits approved" green/glow Hot Spot and white/glow hoochie.

What a beauty!

Released two footballs at the boat this morning.
Both fish at roughly 21" and 4 pounds a piece!

Nisqually (green can) was dead this morning. Didn't see anything caught but eel grass... and lots of it! Not a lot showing up on the fish finder either... Starting to get a little concerned.

Ya know how it is.....Ya take someone out, show them how to do it, and they out fish ya. laugh

I don't mind in this case, this was his first king! You should have seen the look on his face when the king was ripping line like a freight train. eek

Shoot....forgot to mention... After a skunk-filled morning, I was getting pretty discouraged about the day. Called the wife up and she brought lunch to me at the launch. Headed back out and then nailed those two footballs...

What this hogwash about bananas?

Since I am a float tube lover and have yet to invest in a boat, Does anyone know if they are catching Steelhead off the dock at Redondo or Des Moines? I saw one around 10-20lbs being pulled up on the dock at the Kingston ferry while we were crabbing this weeked.

Also very new to Washington fishing, when are the Salmon headed up the rivers and which are the best to hit. I live in Auburn

I have not heard of any steelhead being caught off of either Des Moines or Redondo piers. Don't overlook the pier at Dash Pt. either. The fish that are usually caught are kings or silvers.

Since you live in Auburn, the closest river to you will be the Green. Check and know your regs first for the Green!

The Green has fish in it now but you cannot fish it till Oct. 16th near Hwy 18. The Green opens at the mouth Sept 1st. The regs for the Green are geographically, lure, and date restrictive. frown

Make sure you know where you are on the river and what date it is before you drop a line.

Yeah not being very familiar with the area makes the regs a little more difficult for me than others. I am a highly catch and release guy anyway. When they say 1 salmon does that me kept or can you catch and release all day long with the huge fish? I know with Trout it say that keepers are considered daily limit wether kept or not. Is it the same for salmon when it comes to limiting out?

Bear with me please? New fisher in Washington.

I was looking through the regs and did not see anything in regards to a limit on catching and releasing salmon. I could be wrong.

I know when I fish for chums in Hood Canal I catch and release till my arm fall off. laugh

Carl, what will you be fishing for after Sept1 on the Green? Silvers? They seem to be coming in late. Could take my boat out for a change and go for some. What do you think?

Busy, I will be hitting the Green this weekend coming up. I know I am going out there with a buddy of mine on Monday, the 2nd, morning.

Do you wanna try for Sunday the 1st?

I hear there are already silvers in the Green.

I won't be able to this Sunday. We are going on our yearly family camping trip...later than usual though. How about next weeken after? Or on the Wednesday? I have new hours now. I am off Sun,Mon and Wed. I also have taken Tuesdays off from the 16th on. Where on the Green you planning to fish?

We can plan for another weekend for sure.

I will start down at the mouth till 9/16 then move upstream as the month goes on. Then gradually shift from boat fishing to bank fishing.

Busy, I went down to the Green this afternoon to check it out, downstream from Pak Hwy. The kings were stacked up in the river like cord wood. They were every where! Did not see any silvers though. The warden even stopped by to make sure we were not fishing. cool

Must be quite a sight. Would like to take my daughter to see that. Where were you? How do I get there to take a peek maybe with a camera?

Ya know where Horizon Ford (formerly SeaTac Ford) is? It is by the intersection of Pak Hwy, SR 900, and E. Marginal. There is a little side street, I can't think of the street number right now, that dead ends right at the river. The street is between Horizon Ford and the Red Lion hotel on Pak Hwy. There is a foot bridge that goes over the river. Check it out at low tide.
