I have a special hunt that starts 12-9-02 and runs through the end of the year. It is for any elk, but I want a big bull. It's a rifle hunt and good in GMU's 127-142. I don't know much about these areas but know of elk near cheney and mica. If anyone has info that could help me bang a nice bull in any of the areas listed above I would make it worth your while. $ Thanks for any help. P.S. I know this is a fishing board but alot of guys who fish also hunt and everybodys on this board.

Try Steve Zender the WDFW region biologist for info. He's very helpful. Sorry I don't have his number but the department should be able to provide it. Good luck.

Hey lucky permit hunter!
I pulled a special elk permit last year out on the OP and called the region game dept. and they were very helpful as to tell me where the herd was and options for me as I new nothing about this area.... call your local boys in that area and they should be able to help you...ask them if there is any farmer incentive areas out there where the herd may be....good luck! beer

Thanks for the tips bowhunter and KNOPHISH, you to dustywaders. I'll give those folks some calls. And if anyone else has some first hand experience in these areas or knows of a landowner with elk please reply. Thanks moose
